The original Silva International logo symbolizes the essence of the Silva Method. It is a symbol of enlightenment that comes from expanded inner awareness.
The Silva International logo was originally created on a paper napkin by Jose Silva while having lunch with his class – many of whom were art students - at a Denny's restaurant in Amarillo, Texas. I was there along with three other graduates. There were five of us in the large round booth and all of us had a good view as we witnessed creativity in progress.
Mr. Silva quickly sketched while explaining his ideas for the logo. We artists were eager to help with the drawing but, being an artist himself; he didn't need help at all. He had the flaming torch, the pyramid and the lettering finished before coffee and dessert were served.
What is especially memorable to me was his excitement about the creation of the logo and how it symbolized the heart and spirit of the Silva Method. It has been almost forty years and still these impressions and thoughts remain with me.
Mr. Silva went on to explain that light or a flame is a symbol of spiritual, inner awakening. Light is often used in art to signify the spiritual and quantum power of our universe. The Silva Method is a program that awakens and educates participants to an expanded inner awareness in order to be empowered to change and create a better and better life.
A flickering flame symbolizes bringing its surrounding to light. Our surroundings, our homes, workplace and community are brighter places when we shine. The flame is in the shape of three "S" letters side by side representing Silva Sensor Systems, Jose's company that produced his biofeedback equipment of which he had patents on.
A torch indicates that the flame or light can be contained and utilized to light the way for oneself and others. Torches can also be used to light other torches. In other words, one's light or torch can be passed on.
The torch is held by a hand with the thumb, pointer finger and middle finger touching one another, symbolizing the Silva Three Fingers Technique or more specifically the subjective energies of Desire, Belief and Expectancy; energies that comprise Faith.
An inverted triangle with its base to the heavens is a symbol of The Silva Method's strong foundation, built from the enlightenment and wisdom of higher intelligence. When we function at level and go deep within we can attune to the wisdom of higher intelligence and access all information that can be applied to solve problems of all kinds here on Earth, and so the downward point of the triangle symbolizing Earth.
Within the top side of the triangle is written "Silva Method" and within the other sides are the words "Mind" and "Control." These were Jose's original choice of words to describe his Method. He very simply stated that it was either going to be The Silva Method of Thought Control or Mind Control and felt that the latter was more appropriate since the Method was about teaching people to control ones own mind. It wasn't until much publicity over the airwaves on brain washing and negative type controls some individuals and organizations seem to have over people that the name The Silva Method of Mind Control was dropped and the training began to be called simply The Silva Method.
The double rings around the hand and torch symbolize eternity and a reminder that we have the ability to access information from the beginning of time and till the end of time. Our intelligence possesses qualities that are infinite in nature.
Within the double rings is written "Silva Psychorientology" meaning Jose Silva's Method for orienting the mind and "The Science of Tomorrow – Today," demonstrating that the Method was way ahead of its time – and still is.
The original Silva Method logo has evolved throughout its forty year history and although other logos may appear from time to time to promote various products and marketing approaches, the original logo still represents Silva International and The Silva Method.
Each time you look at the Silva torch logo, let it be a reminder of the depth and scope of the Silva Method.
