Dr Munkhdorj Otgon MD PhD

Currently serving on the Ministry of Health of Mongolia as founding member of the advisory council for hereditary diseases, Dr. Otgon is highly educated and brings a wealth of experience from his work in the medical field that enhances his instruction in the Silva Method. He received his MD in Mongolia in 1962, and in 1972, he earned his PhD in Medical Genetics in Moscow, Russia. In 1981, he also earned a BA in English and Literature, as an extramural student at the Mongolian State University. He is fluent in English, Russian & Mongolian, and is an ex member of the Human Genome Organization.

Dr. Otgon’s career in the medical field spans over forty years, and he has distinguished himself in his employment at the following hospitals and organizations: Oct. 2006 to the present -The Second General Hospital; April 2002 to Oct. 2006 - Deputy Director, Traumatology & Orthopedic Teaching Hospital; Dec. 1999 to February 2002 - Deputy Director, The First Hospital; May 1984 to Dec. 1999 - Staff Member of the World Health Organization (WHO) South East Asia Region Office; 1972 to 1984 - Faculty member of the Mongolian Medical University; 1962 to1969 - Medical officer at the Second General hospital, Mongolia.

In addition to his outstanding work in his native country of Mongolia, Doctor Otgon had the opportunity to also work in India, Bhutan and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a WHO staff member from 1984 to 1999. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing criteria and implementing, evaluating and monitoring challenging projects involving non-communicable diseases, Human Resources for Health, health education, maternal and child health research & management, and international emergency management.
